USDOT announces TIGER III grants

On June 30, U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced a third round of TIGER grants. The $527 million in discretionary grants are intended for critical investments in the nation’s transportation infrastructure. Funding is available for high-impact projects, including roads, bridges, freight rail, transit buses and streetcars, ports, and bicycle and pedestrian paths.

Eligible recipients include states, cities, MPOs, local and tribal governments, as well as multi-jurisdiction and multi-state partnerships. Grants may not be less $10 million ($1 million for rural areas) and the maximum grant size is $200 million. A 20% non-Federal match is required

The previous two rounds of the TIGER grant program provided $2.1 billion to 126 transportation projects in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Applications are due sometime this fall. Additional details on the grant program are expected to be announced soon.

TIGER III grants can be used to purchase Avego’s Futurefleet™ system for buses, our Vanpool Management System, or to implement Avego Real-time Ridesharing projects.
