This month we wanted to start giving you a flavor of what it’s like to work at Avego by introducing you to some of the people who work here.
Maria de la Paz Almagro is the latest addition to our expanding design team. Maria joins us all the way from Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she worked at Accenture for Avanade as the User Experience and User Interface Team Lead.
Although she has been designing professionally for 9 years, she has been passionate about art and design her whole life.
“I have loved to draw since I was a small child. I remember getting in big trouble when I was four years old for drawing all over my parents’ new curtains…”
Coming from one of the largest cities in the world, Maria has first-hand experience of a nightmare commute, fighting total traffic congestion as part of her daily life.
“One of the reasons I wanted to join Avego was that it is my first opportunity to design for something that can really benefit society – not just for profit. It’s cool to know that my designs can really help people.”
When we asked Maria what she liked most about working at Avego, she replied, “Everybody here is so friendly. The people here remind me of my friends back home, but I am still getting used to not kissing people when greeting them, which can be a bit awkward!”
Outside of work, Maria loves to exercise, go shopping, meet new people and spend time with her family and friends. She is also crazy about music and can be heard most days at her desk humming along to the Beatles – so watch out for some Beatles influences in the next Avego designs!
