In the last six months, Avego has developed a brand new real-time ridesharing experience that we believe is going to transform the way people rideshare. To make sure all users that have an Avego account are getting the full benefit of this new update, and to maximize the Avego ridesharing community, we are merging the Avego Driver 2.x experience with the Avego 3.x experience.
So how does this affect me?
Well, later this month, Avego users with the “Avego Driver” iPhone app will receive a new upgrade to their software and those using the “Avego RTR” app will be prompted to download the new “Avego” app. If left unupgraded, however, “Avego Driver” will stop working after January 1st 2013, so make sure you’re keeping up with Avego fast-moving Avego community and upgrade to the new app.
What’s the difference, why the change?
The difference between the two apps can be seen in the name: “Avego Driver”, as you can tell, is focussed on the driver. It automatically matches riders and drivers, and operates on the concept of a fixed route that the driver doesn’t deviate from, containing stops just like on a bus route. The new “Avego” app is a social networking app for ridesharing which facilitates ridematching by allowing users to collaborate and communicate. This more flexible, user-focussed realtime ridesharing is much better suited to most markets, especially those where there is not yet a critical mass of users.
