Released yesterday to thousands of users in Avego hotspots around the world – trip scheduling, adjustable notifications and improved search results.
Since the first release of Avego RTR (real-time ridesharing) version 3 this year, the Avego R&D team have had their heads down in our new Cork office, distilling feedback and cooking up new features full of everyday usefulness – the sort of thing that gets you to work faster, makes your rideshare easier and gives you a little extra peace of mind.
The newest release of the Avego RTR app (released yesterday and available on both Android and iPhone, or on the browser of your web-enabled smartphone) includes scheduled trips, modified matching results, real-time rider and driver status, “coach marks” and adjustable notification settings. Great, you say, but what does that all mean?!
Well, eager Avego user, pull up a chair for this: First, we added the ability for you to input repeating trips, like your home to work commute, so you automatically appear on the rideboard for that time and day each week, with no additional input needed! If your plans change or you go on a vacation, there’s no need to delete these repeating trips, just set that trip to “off” and you won’t be visible to other users until you set it back to “on” in your trip settings. Simple to use, but powerful! Need a different schedule for Thursday night soccer practise? No problem, create a tailored trip and run that in parallel with your regular commute trip.
For one-off trips… no worries, you can still pop into the system and request the trip in real-time. Or preschedule a trip for an upcoming Friday concert event in two weeks… these one-off trips just pop on the rideboard so they can be searched by and displayed to other users.
Avego users in particularly busy areas thriving with other Avego ridesharers will be happy to hear that the constant buzzing of their smartphones indicating that hundreds of others are logging on in the morning for their commute can now be set to silent. This is changable in “notification settings” under the “Settings” menu item.
What about these “Coach Marks” you ask? Well, this is a great one for new users. When you log into the app for the first time, you will be prompted through the first steps you have to take, like setting your role as a driver or rider and adding a regularly scheduled trip.
My personal favorite is the new matching results: when you enter both an origin and destination, you see nearby riders/ drivers AND riders/drivers ‘going your way’. This means you can be sure the person you’re contacting for a ride will actually be a good match for you, while also showing other active users so you can see where you can get to from where you are.
All in all, we’re trying to take the uncertainty and the headache out of your commute. If you like these new features or you have some cool ideas yourself, let us know in the comments sections below. We love nothing more than your feedback, so keep it all coming!
