Avego isn’t just about reducing the number of cars on the road or offering a more affordable, sociable commute option to riders – Avego drivers can earn big compensation towards the costs of operating their cars!
How does this work? Simple… Avego riders pay $1.00 for the first mile of a shared journey and then $0.20 for each subsequent mile. Drivers receive 85% of this ‘fare’ directly, with the remaining 15% going towards Avego’s operational costs. Here’s a real-life example:
On the Kinsale to Cork commute, the average yearly costs are $3,475 (based on 28.08c per km*, 225 trips to Cork and back per year, 27.5 km per journey). Sharing a ride with an Avego-er would cost a rider $1,496 per annum. That’s a saving of $1,979 per year!
If you are a driver, you receive 85% of the costs of each rider in your car. So the more riders you have in your car, the more money you can earn – which means you wind up paying less and less to run your car. It’s what we call win, win, win.
Time to get ridesharing!
