Stranded Irish Commuters Turn To Avego

They say every cloud has a silver lining – last month’s bus strike in Ireland was no different. An industrial action at Bus Éireann meant that tens of thousands of commuters across Ireland were left unable to get to work. Apart, that is, from those who used Avego.

The situation was an ideal opportunity to highlight the benefits of using real-time ridesharing, as those who already used Avego were able to reach their place of work without any disruption. Not only that, many stranded commuters became new Avego-ers and are now well and truly converted to a brand new way of affordable, sociable commuting. It didn’t just benefit commuters either, because many university students who were right in the middle of their exams saw the advantages also.

Interestingly, we at Avego had quite a lot of feedback from both drivers and riders who didn’t realise how flexible ridesharing can be when compared to rigid bus schedules. Many people think primarily about the savings factor when they sign up, but the difference it makes in convenience is a real eye-opener for those in areas where critical mass has developed.

This situation was a great opportunity to spread our message in Ireland. But remember, Avego isn’t just for bus strikes – it can save you time and money every single day!
