Carmapooling Adventures In Austin

We’re delighted to see the Austin network buzzing, as new people are joining and setting up Carmapools every single day. We noticed that one member, Danielle G., has been leading the pack, so we met up with her to get the inside scoop on what inspired her to strut those Carma wings!

Danielle shares her commute every day with her husband from Hutto, TX to North Austin for work (60 miles round trip). They started carpooling when they realized they were paying a combined $800 a month in gas and toll road costs by driving separately! Carma came into the picture when she learned that co-workers at National Instruments were using the app to coordinate carpools. She was excited to try it out and find more matches to join their carpool adventures she calls the ‘Sarcasm Express’.

Best Carpooling Benefit: “Having someone else to talk to when you’re sitting in traffic is nice. We use the commute home to decompress from our days so that when we get home we don’t have to talk about work and we can focus on family time.”

Biggest ‘Wow’ Moment: “It’s a great resource to see who’s going your direction. I realized that I could have neighbors out there with similar commute routes, who I otherwise wouldn’t know about!”

Carpooling Confession: “I usually drive and let my husband sit back to enjoy the ride. I always check the ‘Give a Free Ride’ box, but sometimes I want to charge him ☺

Thanks for spreading the good Carma Danielle!
