2014 brings in a swarm of joggers on pavements, a tsunami of healthy eating plans and a resolve to start the year off right. Here in Carma, we’re beginning again ourselves with the resolution to launch a revised website.
Having watched our visitors over the past year, we’ve noticed a trend in the people visiting the site.

[li-row]People curious about carpooling and the concept[/li-row]
[li-row]Existing users who want to check out their messages and search for available rides[/li-row]
[li-row]Those who are keen to hear the latest news in the world of transportation, carpooling and all things Carma[/li-row]

So, over a number of cups of tea (no baristas needed here), we schemed and planned for a new version of the site.
The first goal was to split the relevant sections so new users could read about the concept of carpooling while not being confused by the existing functions on the site. That led us to keep the desktop features such as ride searching, trip creation and messages available from desktop app section. This allows existing users a quick shortcut to get to the functions they need while passing over the marketing content.
The new users are presented with a walkthrough of a typical day using the app on the homepage while being exposed to some of our worldwide pilots. All of our pages on the main site feature the same navigation to allow new users to explore the site without losing their way.
For the socially minded, we’ve overhauled our blog to give you more regular posts from a more diverse bunch within the company. We’ve even included a Carma Creators section with some logos and brochures for anyone who wants to start spreading the message about carpooling in their neighborhood.
Given the prevalence of visitors on mobile, we make sure that the majority of content on the site is viewable on whatever device you use to visit us.
Like any technology project, this site is constantly evolving as we hunt down bugs, take feature requests on board and figure out how to inject the last 5% of awesome into our projects.
Have you noticed anything that is niggling you, or something you’d love us to feature? Feel free to comment on this article or drop us an email at team@car.ma!
