Sharing the Love with Toll Refunds Across Central Texas

We have to say it: we love Austin! Over the past year, the Carma community has grown and shown activity far beyond our program goals. 10,600 carpool trips over 172,000 miles were shared by members, 8,200 gallons of gas saved, $3,600 in commuting costs shared, and 160,600 pounds of CO₂ emissions avoided. In addition, Carma gave over $2,500 in toll refunds to Austin residents driving the 183A and 290 (Manor Expressway) Toll Roads.

Thanks to the growing membership and feedback that Carma members provided us over the past year, we heard loud and clear that Central Texans want more toll refunds and are willing to carpool for them. To celebrate our one-year anniversary in Austin, we’re expanding our program with the help of TxTag and the Mobility Authority: Carma toll refunds are now available on ALL Austin-area toll roads!

Starting today, through June 30, 2015, Carma members can go toll-free across Central Texas. Once a Carma member, you can sign up by registering your TxTag and License Plate details in your Carma profile.

Toll Roads Eligible for Carma Carpooler Refunds

Available on the 183A Toll, 290 Toll (Manor Expressway), SH 130*, SH 45N, Loop 1, and 45SE when you carpool with the Carma app. *Excludes segments 5 & 6 of SH 130, south of 45 SE.

Same refund amounts as always: 2-person carpools get 50% of the toll back, and 3+ person carpools get the FULL toll refunded!

Now refunded as Carma Credits – instead of TxTag credits, your toll refunds will be made on a monthly basis straight to your Carma account, which can be cashed out at any time or used towards future carpools. This was a change made in partnership with TxTag to benefit you – refunds will be available more quickly!
